With this, Uruguay won the final stage after the third challenge and reached the top of the tournament for the first time. Uruguay also reached the finals in 1997 and 2013, but ended up as runners-up. However, in this tournament, they won all but no points against England (2-3 loss) in the group stage 2 and rose to the top.

Uruguay started with a 4-2-3-1 formation. Anderson Duarte, Juan de los Santos-Franco Gonzalez-Luciano Rodriguez, Damian Garcia-Fabricio Diaz, Alan Maturo-Facundo Gonzalez-Sebastian Boselli-Rodrigo Chagas and Randall Rodriguez started sortie.

Italy chose a 4-1-2-1-2 formation. Giuseppe Ambrosino – Simone Papundi, Tommaso Baldanci, Cesare Casadei – Matteo Fratti, Giacomo Paticanti, Samuel Giovanni – Gabriele Guarino – Daniele Gallardi – Riccardo Turicchia, Sebastiano Desplanques took to the field first .

Early in the game, Uruguay opened fire. In the 6th minute of the first half, Maturo opened the door with a bold left-footed shot, and in the 10th and 12th minutes of the first half, Dias aimed for the goal with two mid-range shots. But all missed the goal.

Italy struggled, not being able to easily release Uruguay’s strong pressure. In the 18th minute of the first half, Papundi attempted a counterattack with a sharp left-footed shot, but it was blocked by the defensive wall.

Uruguay shook his head. In the 22nd minute of the first half, Duarte connected a corner kick from the right with a powerful header. It was a shot towards the corner of the goal, but it was blocked by Desplanques’ wonderful save.

Italy took out a replacement card first. At the start of the second half, Mattia Zanotti was brought in in place of Paticanti. In the 11th minute of the second half, Ambrosino and Papundi were removed and Daniele Montebago and Francesco Esposito entered. In the 18th minute of the second half, Uruguay replaced Duarte and replaced Andres Ferrari.

A big variable almost occurred in the tense game. In the 35th minute of the second half, Prati committed a dangerous foul by stamping Dias’ knee with the sole of his foot, and the referee immediately issued a red card. However, as a result of video review (VAR), it was changed to a yellow card.

Uruguay broke the balance of zero at the end of the game. In the 40th minute of the second half, confusion arose in the corner kick situation, and Maturo’s shot was deflected after hitting the defense. Rodriguez didn’t miss it and headed it in to score a valuable opening goal.

11 minutes of extra time were given in the second half. Italy tried to attack all the way to the tie, but it didn’t work out. In the end, the match ended with Uruguay winning by a single goal, 1-0.

Both teams dreamed of winning their first championship, but the trophy belonged to Uruguay. Italy defeated Korea 2-1 in the semifinals and advanced to the finals for the first time, but they couldn’t beat Uruguay and lowered their heads.
